I had an appointment with Dr. Xiaoming Guan last week. He is very knowledgeable about Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. Well, he is on Nancy’s Nook Endo specialist list (Facebook group), of course he’s good! Nancy’s Nook Endo specialist list is a list of Drs/surgeons who have good records on treating Endometriosis. Skilled and very knowledgeable doctors! You will not waste your time and money when you’re on their hands, that’s all I want to say.
Dr Guan did a physical examination, and he found a nodule on the posterior area of my uterus, nearby my rectum. When he poke it to check, it was sooooo freaking hurt! The pain shots from my butt to my lower abdomen! 😭 He said my Endometriosis is pretty severe. My doctor in China never mentioned about Endometriosis on posterior area, they only found Endometriomas on my both ovaries. And the doctor have never di physical exams just like what Dr Guan did.
He mentioned about my Adenomyosis. He said it will be difficult to treat Adenomyosis surgery wise, he ordered me to do MRI so he can have a better look of my condition. After he get the result, he will decide what treatment plan for me.
So, here I am today, on Texas Children’s Hospital Women’s Pavilion waiting room waiting for my MRI schedule time. I came way too early, so I just decide to hang out here while drinking kombucha.
I have to stop eating 3 hours before the MRI. They told me they also will give me an IV that has some kind of dye so they can see the color image on the MRI. Eeeekkk… that’s make me nervous, I don’t like needles!
The procedure will take 45 minutes. And the MRI machine is the one that looks like tunnel. Oh mannn… That’s make me even more nervous!
The MRI cost is expensive, about US$1,350. I have to pay about half out of my pocket, the rest will be covered by my insurance. I’m so broke, I don’t have $750 to pay it. But luckily my in-laws want to pay it for me. Yay me!
Okay, I need to get ready, I’ll give you update later. Please pray for me 🙏🏼
The radiology department nurse and receptionists are nice. The radiologist who assisted me to do MRI were also very nice. Very good service from Texas Children’s Hospital Houston.
When the MRI scan started I was a little bit freaking out. Getting into small tunnel like space made me feel a little bit claustrophobic. I had a few seconds of initial stage of panic attack. My heart beat so hard, my body felt cold, and my breath start to shorten. The panic attack gotten worse when I open my eyes. So I decided to close my eyes and tried to imagine that I’m laying down on my bed, meanwhile I tried to control my panic attack. I had to survive the 45 minutes scan in that small chamber! I told my self, “you have to pay $1,350 for this, you can’t be controlled by your madness! Women up and take the control back!”. Well, I did it. I fought back the panic attack. Enjoyed Josh Groban’s music from the earphones that they gave me and fell asleep for eww minutes during the procedure 😂😂😂
The radiologist told me that she will send the result to Dr. Guan’s office on Monday or Tuesday. She also advised me to call the Dr’s office to ask about the follow up appointment.
After the MRI finished, I walked out of the Radiology Department. I saw Dr. Guan and I said hi. I told him that I just finished my MRI. He said he knows it, the radiologist called him, and the result is very interesting. I stopped, saw him and his nurse walked away, rushing to the radiology department. I was wondering, why the radiologist has to call him and said she found something very interesting? Is it something bad? Is it something good? What is that interesting thing? Why she has to call Dr. Guan? These questions in my head really bothers me 😞
But I cannot do anything about it, can I? Whatever it is, it exists in my body. I just need to hear the reality next week. I don’t want to think about it anymore… I don’t want to feel depressed 😞
